Aaron Hemens is a photographer and journalist based in Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada. He is a multimedia reporter at Kelowna Capital News.

From August 2020 to March 2021, Aaron was the editor/reporter of the Creston Valley Advance, a community newspaper published weekly in the town of Creston, B.C.

In 2019, he spent seven months in Inuvik – a town located 200 km north of the Arctic Circle in Canada’s Northwest Territories working as the editor/reporter of the Inuvik Drum.

Aaron graduated from Carleton University’s journalism program in June 2018. He was named as the recipient of the Mitch Jacobson Memorial Award in Photojournalism that same year. 

During the 2017-18 academic year, he was the assistant photographer at the Charlatan, Carleton’s independent student newspaper. He would later serve as the photo editor for the summer of 2018.
